Whether you are teaching peers or in public school classroom, there is an art and a science to planning a class. Finding that spark inside each student means lots of scaffolding, differentiation, and getting down to the core of what a story is. A beginning writing workshop should teach effective communication of a student’s ideas and inspire further exploration into not only writing, but self-advocacy and self-esteem. Advanced courses should help students push farther in their skills.

These two presenters will discuss how to structure a lesson plan, fit the needs of every student, and support a creative and safe space.
