One of the trickiest bits of transforming from your writer-self to your author-self is doing a reading of your own work. Is it a solo reading, or are you sharing a one-hour spot with two (or three or four) others? Have you been given a luxurious half hour, a spare 15 minutes — or maybe just a flash five? Should you read all of a short piece or an excerpt from your current novel/novella/trilogy? How about a WIP? Do you clue the audience in on what’s come before and after, or let the work speak for itself? With a longer piece,  how do you know where to end, to leave the listeners craving more? Decision, decisions, decisions....
